Despite its common name, the Asparagus Fern is not a true fern but belongs to the asparagus family. This evergreen perennial features soft, feathery, light-green foliage growing along gently curving stems, creating a graceful, architectural appearance. In spring and summer, it produces small delicate flowers that are often overlooked due to their subtle nature. Growing conditions Asparagus densiflorus thrives in filtered light and performs best when protected from harsh afternoon sun. Plant in well-draining, moist, fertile soil to encourage healthy growth. This evergreen can reach up to 90cm in height and spread approximately 120cm wide, making it an excellent choice for adding texture and form to the landscape. Care & Maintenance Asparagus Fern benefits from regular applications of liquid fertiliser throughout the growing season to encourage lush, healthy growth. In warmer climates, it has the potential to become invasive through underground tuber expansion and seed dispersal by birds.
